I love Ally McBeal! Well, the series is all over now, but I had the priviledge of watching an old episode and it brought back all the memories!Miss McBeal, as the courts addressed her, was a weird one. She thought and did the weirdest things. But if you actually think of it, everything she did, everything that ran in her mind, is as exactly as we would have done it. She was always true to herself, even if it went against her, and I loved that about her. So please let me take back what I said earlier - Miss McBeal, was a lovely one.
The best thing about her, the thing that made me warm towards her and like her was that she was a hopeless romantic. I, being a mushy kind of girl and a hopeless romantic myself, fell for her and to a part, understand where she is coming from. And this made me love the character and the TV series even more.
Her best friend in the series, John Cage told her:
"... This world in not romantic anymore, but some of the people in it, still are. And therein lies its promise. Don't let the world win, Ally McBeal..."... I loved that line!
Having the knowledge that two people she knew were getting married because it was the convenient thing, Ally once asked a friend of hers : "You have to have your heart pounding at least when you walk down the aisle, right?". And in my mind, I nodded and agreed with her - Yes Ally, that is right.
So just like Ally, I hope and wish that someday I have a pounding heart, a pounding that deafens everything else when I walk towards the best man I know on our wedding day! I hope on that day I have an absolute conviction that I want to spend the rest of my life with him and that his love for me is the forgiveness I crave for, for being the mess I am. And I hope that if fate is to decide otherwise, I would still have the strength and wisdom to say Yes to life!

Very nice thought Ineshka.
Even though we wish for somethings in life our fate at times decides against our wishes which puts us in to many difficulties in life. But regardless, if we still have the courage to say "yes" to life i guess that's what make us see the reality in life.
I have very limited knowladge on this TV series, as i rarely watch TV. But I can remeber the billboard at Piththala Junction near Bishops Collage. It said "Ladies look out" and I can't remeber the rest of it. Subsequently there was a political advertiesment refering this "Minister's look out".
Now in to more serious note I would like to comment on the last paragraph. Don't let every thing for fate, you can change it if you try but it's not going to be easy at all. I feel that love is not one sided, again i doubt how much this comments fit in for this, it will only sustain if we respect, trust and commit for each other. There it will florish, and i hope and wish the special day you have mentioned will not be far away and your hart will be pounding at full speed :).
Hi... Just could not help reading (courtesy vishuddhi) this blog and then going on to post a comment on it... geez this is wicked indeed...
"... This world in not romantic anymore, but some of the people in it, still are. And therein lies its promise. Don't let the world win, Ally McBeal..."... I loved that line!
Well I do believe sincerity is one of the most important, if not 'the' most important traits... as any hot blooded feamle would suggest, theft in the name of romance is bad, right? so people have to watch what they are speaking or for that matter what they are typing, not pretending to have 'arahat' status.
I don't like people in this society who do not, in thier wildest dreams take 0 effort to practice what they preach. I mean theoritically speaking, there are certain fundamental thruths in life we have to live by. I mean its wrong to sleep with family members, and also its wrong to kill parents... under the same method, at times... well not at times but generally we reason out that it's totally, disgracefully disloyal to poke in to other people who are other peoples'... I mean you get my point right? you don't try to fiddle with people who are committed, its a sin, be it the guy code, the hen code, whatever you wanna call it, its bad.. right???
Maybe its all fair in the "wonderful land of OZ' but when truth does stare at you directly in the face, when its standing in front of you expressing you its ugly naked saggy body, you might wanna take cover... or your relationship might go for a toss...
my enlish is fathetic... plz execuse moi francais...

Excuse me, but I think you’ve got your foot in the mouth!
“geez this is wicked indeed...” – What, exactly is wicked about this post? Beats me! This is a perfectly harmless perception of what the character Ally McBeal entails to the writer, with an excerpt to support her view.
“you don't try to fiddle with people who are committed, its a sin..” – well, who did fiddle with anybody here?!
"... This world is not romantic anymore, but some of the people in it, still are. And therein lies its promise. Don't let the world win, Ally McBeal..."... I loved that line!
This is the line you seem to have misinterpreted as encouraging infidelity – though how you got infidelity into the picture is beyond me because nothing in this post comes even close to that! What this quote means, in layman’s terms, is that we should not kill the spirit of romance and inspiration within ourselves as most people tend to do with the mundane routines or convenience of their lives – because there in lies the promise of hope, inspiration and of love.
I think you have misunderstood this whole post and gone on to bluntly comment on it without verifying your facts and/or without as much reading the entire post - because if you did read the last para, you wouldn’t have to go any further to realise what an immaculate romantic the writer is at her heart (bless her soul, we need more of such hearts in this world!).
While unjustifiable, ruthless commenting itself is not accepted netiquette, you actually owe the writer an apology for criticizing her post for something it does not imply at all!
Don't let the world win, Ineshka McHindapala.....................
Thanks, that's a beautiful thing to say :) hey, i hope you dont mind me asking, do I know you? :)
Yeah right, whatever, Guess I'll have to excuse Viraji cos she uneducated about the case history behind my 'mean' comments... you can see that the writer hasn't retaliated- translation; I ducked cos I don't wanna take it head on... let me live my life alone, reading books watching movies, being single, doing the blog to show the rest of the world that I'm not a sad ass, and doing the odd probe in to other people's guys... yeah whatever makes you happy baby, whay to go... hahahahha (evil laugh)
Dude Spot on Ally Mcbeal rocks. You basically fall in love with Calista Flokhart, just like the crazy older sister you wished you always had around.
Sad they dont make stuff like that
